For the How Posters Work exhibit at the Cooper Hewitt, Ellen Lupton, the curator, asked us to each create a potential design for the accompanying book. I reviewed the writing and organization of the content and decided to base my design on the fact that posters are pedagogic. As they are gazed upon, they teach the user not just of their content, but how to go about using them and their design, and Ellen created divisions based on how they teach us. I wanted the book to participates in teaching a user how to use it too, so I created a very consistent feature across its pages: an indexical bank of information on the right which served as a convenient area to reference and the posters could be uninterrupted.
